View from Arentzbu

Arentzbu

I took the train to Otta on Wednesday 27 June, and bus to Lom. I had to wait quite a while on the bus here. Here you should check the bus times in advance.

From Lom I took the bus to Sognefjellshytta. Here I stayed. It was very nice here after the refurbishment.

Thursday I took the bus to Høyheimsvik.

Started to go at 11.25.

From Høyheimsvik to Navarsete

Day 1. Thursday.

This had been an OK first day, but I should not take off the tractor road and onto the trail. This was marked on my GPS map, but it was an old trail that was badly marked and completely rewritten. I messed up in this forest for 1.5 hours before I came to the resting place over Kolstad.

I should have followed the tractor road up to Kolstad and the trail up there to the resting place.

Come to Flatningane at 15.15.

The path from there to Navarsete was OK to go and I look down at Navarsete at. 15.50.

There were no people at the seat, but there came a flock of Swedes who had been on Stongfjellet and came down from there.

Navarsete is located in Engjadalen and there is a path from there down to the road at Gaupne.

Navarsete was a very big cabin, but OK. It was nice on a seat.

Were a little tired after messing down in the urch forest before Kolstad. Made me stew for dinner and brought something like candy the following day.

Here I look down on Høyheimsvik. Has begun to go up here. First road, then tractor road and so trail. I would not take the trail, but should follow the tractor road up to Koldstad.

Here I have come to Seat Flatningane. There is almost no rise to Navarsete now. A terrain in birch forest.

Here is Navarsete with the DNT cabin in the long red building. It was a really nice place and the cabin was OK.

From Navarsete to Vigdalstøl

Day 2. Friday.

Started against Vigdalstøl at. 07.50. Lovely and warm weather.

It was a fairly steep climb up Heggedalen. Were on a little nice seats up in the valley at. 08.35.

Then an even steeper ascension followed to Heggedalsvatnet. Were here at 09:30.

It was nice to walk along the water. Then I went up to Stongfjellet at 1200 m.o.h.

Then the path descended towards Fivla. An unmanned DNT cabin.

Here I found a follow-up from DNT. English people on tour. They were at the age of 60-65 and had to go to Navarsete.

Then I was going down the last steep piece. It was dumped. I was very concentrated and took it very carefully down there.

Then it went on a very nice path to the seat Breidsete. Then the trail went as a fishing hook and across the bridge at Vigdøla and down to Vigestøl cabin where I was at. 13.40.

It was a small but very nice cabin. It actually lived a Pine marten below the cabin.

It's about 190 m up here from Navarsete. It's incredibly nice up here, but I know it in my legs.

Here is the farmhouse in Heggedalen. It's really nice. I'm going to go up along the back that goes left.

It's green and nice here but a lot of climb

Fra Vigdalen til Vigdalstøl

Dag 2/3 Fredag, Lørdag

It had been a nice trip from Navarsete to Vigdalstøl, but at night at. 19:00 while I lay and rested after dinner I had a strong heart flicker.

I thought it would disappear, but at. At 23.00 I went up to a seat above the cabin where there was a mobile signal and used the 113 app

I wondered if I had to go down to the cabin and wait to see if I became better, but I was not allowed to do that. I had to stand with a mobile signal until they had arranged something.

Those of 113 would get a relief corps that would follow me down to the road and emergency room. About. 45 min. on the trail.

I was told to pack down and put light in the window. It was about 00.15 a clock while I was outside the cabin and I heard a helicopter over me. It landed below the cabin and then they took ECG in the light of the torches inside the cabin before it went to Førde Hospital and the Heart Department.

At 2:00 they got my heart back to normal again. Lie on surveillance the rest of the night, but everything was OK.

Asked the doctor if I could continue the trip and he said it was OK.

I took a taxi to the bus terminal, bus to Sogndal, shop at the pharmacy there, Taxi to Vigdalen. Then it was going to go the 45 min. up to the cabin. Was there at 18.15.

I feel a little stupid after this story but am grateful for the help I received. The air ambulance and the Førde hospital were absolutely amazing.

I was on my way back!

From Vigdalstøl to Fast

Day 4 Sunday.

Sunday at At 07.40 I started to move at a quiet pace across Vigdalen. I should go to the cabin Fast this day.

It was nice to go up along the river that was regulated. In fact, there were water levels in some places.

At 08:30 a strong ascension began at Øystølreset. Then it rose a little bit before the big ascension in Hamarsdalen began at kl. 10:00. Here I went very slowly. Would not push me here. It actually went up and down, so it was a bit tiresome.

Come to Hamardalsvatnet.

Then it was over Hamardalsbandet at. 12.30 and then it went full speed down on big snowflakes. Here I went fast.

The snow field went over in a nice trail on grassy hills eventually. Eventually I look down on Åsetevatnet where the cabin Fast is so nice by the water.

I saw that the trail went far beyond the mountain side and it did not match my map. I did not see that the red mark went down where it did.

I actually saw where the red light went down on one of my pictures. By a white stone.

I continued over and eventually had to go downhill in a steep mountain side with Willows. It was a bit scary when suddenly it fell 1m without I could see it. I got very tired. Come in on the trail again.

I got very tired in my legs after going down there. I was attending at 14.20.

A little in the afternoon came a nice couple from Trøndelag who was a cabin guard for DNT. They should be there for 2 days and then continue to Arentzbu.

Very nice people.

Have started to walk up Vigdalen from Vigdalstøl in fine terrain. So far, it's easy.

I take it very quietly over here. Don't stress.

From Fast to Arentzbu

Day 5 Monday.

Walked along the Åsetsvatnet and onto Åsete. A little soft over there but ok to go. I was attending at. 07.20.

Then it went steeply up between Tråneklanten and Skurvenosi. From 840m to 1140m. It was very steep at the very bottom. It was nice to go up the mountain.

It gradually rose upwards. Then it was slaughtered down towards the bridge at Austra and the path separates into Mørkrisnosi.

Come to some buildings. Fjellsli. Here I sat down to eat. Come to Rausdalsvatnet hemsta at.11.50.

Beyond the cottage there were many rivers and streams that came from Spørtegg glacier. There were many bridges over there.

I was promoting at Arentzbu at. 14:30. It had been a nice day, was not tired.

I hit me down in the main cabin. I was alone there. There was very nice view from the cabin. Then up to Oksli and down to Rausdalsvatnet hemsta and all the rivers that rant down from the mountain side.

From Arentzbu to Nørdstedalseter

Day 6 Tuesday.

Started at 06:25. The sun had just risen.

Passed over the bridge that crossed Rausdøla. Before the trail went up over the Kvanneskredene (Scree). I thought it was OK in 20009.

Now the trail had changed and went all the way to the end of Raudalsvatnet before it reached Oksli. This was because the Scree where the trail went before had begun to touch.

I did not like the new trail any particular. It was quite steep up there, and some airy places.

Started ascension at 7.30 am against Oksli.

Up at Oksli I lost the red mark and messed me down into a stone wall and threw away 30-45 minutes there.

Stay at Løndøla at. 10.10. There was a lot of water here so I had to go further down where there were breiers to get over. A very nice place here.

Be on the bridge at Leirvaten. It was as difficult and come down as in 2009. Almost 2.5m down to the ground.

Went along Leirvatnet. It was a bit scary when it was a 20-30m that was a bit airy here.

It was pretty much climbing up to the top where I was at. 12:00

Then went along Gravdalsvatnet.

I stood on the dive where the trail went steep down to the dam at Fivlemyrane. There was a barracks set up down the mountain side, so the trail was restored.

Stay down at the power station and then follow the gravel road to Nørdsdedalseter where I was at. 15:00.

Got a bed in a dormitory. They really had a nice dormitory.

Here is the river Rausdøla that runs past Arentzbu

Here is the bridge over Rausdøla. There is a lot of water in the river now.

From Nørdstedalseter to Bøverdalen

Day 7 Wednesday.

Ate breakfast at 07:00 and started going towards Bøvertun at 07.40.

It was a nice climb upwards. A bit on a gravel road. Went past Vetledalsvatnet.

Stay up at the waterfall in Vetladalen.

Come to upper Grønedalsvatnet at. 10.05. Had gone upwards for 3 hours.

Three people who had come after me had reached me again. We sat and ate by the water here.

Come to Liabrevatnet at. 11.20. My three companions settled down here as I continued. Had to skip the outlet here on the rocks.

Come on a path separating Sognefjellshytta, Bøvertun at. 1200.

Further down to Storevatnet I had problems with red marking. I saw the red-marked on my right side, but went down the snowflakes. It went quite fast down.

Down at Storevatnet I found the red mark again.

From the end of Storevatnett to the descent towards Bøvertun, it was a little problematic terrain. Many valleys lay across, so it went up and down. It was steep up at the ascents. Started getting tired and a little stressed to reach the bus at. 16:00.

Come to descent at 14.50. It was very steep down to Bøvertun, and the trail went down down and forth.

Stay down the road at 15.30. and was very tired in the heat.

The bus would arrive at. 16:00, but it did not come. I hailed a nice man from Nordland with a combined caravan and van. He stopped and took me to Lom. He was really a good man.

I now left the bus to Otta, also the train to Oslo.

This had been a trip I had not seen for me. The problems I got at Vigdalstøl and the trip to Førde.

Wondered if I should have been waiting out the problems and see if they had given up, but it's hard to say

The trip was much more tiring than I could imagine. With very much increase, and I saw the description of the 4 first squares that they were graded as demanding and the last 2 were graded as an Expert.

I have not taken notice of this grade before, but realize they can be meaningful.

I would say that it was a very nice terrain I walked in and I did the trip quite well.

I felt pretty tired when I arrived at the cabins, but in the morning I felt OK and I was ready to go next stretch.
